Keyhole abdominal surgery

Laparoscopic surgery

Minimally invasive techniques may reduce incision size and support recovery when clinically appropriate. Each recommendation follows a complete specialist assessment.

Conditions assessed and treated

  • Gallbladder disease, including gallstones
  • Appendix disease requiring surgical assessment
  • Hernias of the groin and abdominal wall
  • Diagnostic laparoscopy for unexplained abdominal findings
  • Selected upper gastrointestinal and colorectal conditions

How assessment works

  1. A full history and clinical examination in the consulting rooms
  2. Blood tests, imaging or endoscopy where these are clinically indicated
  3. A discussion of open and laparoscopic options, with the benefits, risks and limits of each
  4. Anaesthetic and fitness considerations reviewed before any procedure is planned

Recovery and follow-up

Recovery differs by patient and by procedure. Your expected hospital stay, activity restrictions, wound care and follow-up schedule are explained before you consent to treatment.

This information is general and does not replace a consultation. No outcome can be guaranteed, and the approach appropriate for you is confirmed only after a full specialist assessment by Dr Motheo T. Zimba.
